Venue Love – Darver Castle

Chris Nelson Photography

As I mentioned before, we’ve chosen Darver Castle for our wedding reception. Why? Well there are many reasons for that – it’s a beautiful, homely venue with extensive grounds, nestled in the heart of Co. Louth. We can stay in the castle the night of the wedding – I mean, start as you mean to go on, right? It’s close to our ceremony venue and to where a lot of our guests live, and the staff are so down to earth and friendly. Gonna have to stop talking about it now because when I think too much about it, I get that surge of pre-wedding excitement and nerves that only a bride- or groom- to be experiences.

Today’s post is a celebration of all things Darver… In the interest of me getting too excited for words about the wedding. Even if you don’t share in the excitement, I’m sure these photos – Darver through the lense of 3 top photographers will please you in an aesthetic sense…

Darver has lots of little windows to peep through, and a massive ballroom for a good old party!

This is the fabulous tree stump in front of the castle. Hope it’s dry on our day so we can have fun climbing it!

One of my favourite parts of the whole venue is the covered hall between the main castle and the large ball room. So homely (Yep, in a castle!)
