Alert! Bride and Joy has been taken over by a BOY!! Will we ever be the same again… Here’s Ro’s insight into this whole blogging thing…
Lisa had mentioned the idea of me doing a guest blog several times, and I had considered writing one and surprising her with it but I couldn’t think of anything to write about or maybe I was just avoiding it… But she mentioned it again today so I thought I would give it a shot.
The thing is, I’m kind of apprehensive about writing something that a lot of people are going to see, or maybe I should rephrase that to be something that has my name to it that a lot of people are going to see… As I work as a sub-editor in a tabloid newspaper I have a certain anonymity as the stories I work on are mainly written by other journalists and don’t have my name attached to them.
Anyway, I’m going off on a tangent here, when what I should be doing is giving my reaction as a prospective groom to Lisa’s blog, that is a chronicle of our wedding preparations going on public display. And in a dramatic turn of events, I secretly hate the blog and I’ve even begun a clandestine Facebook campaign – Destroy The Joy – to get Bride & Joy off the Internet… Three followers and counting, baby!
Seriously though, I really enjoy reading the blog, and I like that people can read about our story and I think it’s very interesting to see how we prepare compared to other couples. It also gives a great overview of all the little things that go into planning, and the imaginative and creative touches – like the DIY photobooths – that help make a wedding so special.
I also like the idea that one day, after the Big Day has been and gone, we can look back over all the fun we had in the build-up. No fun on the Big Day itself though – that’s not allowed.
