The amount of bleary-eyed individuals out and about last Saturday is a testament to the fact that Ireland is definitely a rugby-loving nation. While the early-risers saw their team fall at the hands of Wales in the World Cup, we thought we’d celebrate their campaign nonetheless today with the help of a rugby-loving couple - Conor and Olivia – and the talented people at Sean Curtin Photography.
Olivia and Conor met in January 2005 when Conor’s band were in a competition that Olivia was running. “When I met Conor he didn’t even actually watch a lot of rugby, or any sport for that matter,”, says Olivia. “I have always been a big sports fan; a Limerick girl through and through with a passion for rugby and some GAA too. I played both camogie and basketball in school. Being with me, Conor wasn’t long getting into rugby and Munster rugby in particular. He even works for them now!”
When they both tried their hands at tag rugby a few years ago, it wasn’t long before we were bitten by the bug and started training with Young Munster. Olivia is now first woman ever voted into the Executive Senior Committee (since 1895!). “So I guess you could say we’re hooked.”
Conor popped the question with a ring he designed himself (we’re impressed) and the date is set for next year in France – that’s not a Munster fixture, now – that’s the wedding!
I love how Olivia and Conor used their engagement session to reflect their passions, and I eagerly wait for the day a hurling themed engagement session drops into my email. Best of luck to Olivia and Conor for the wedding, and beyond.
- Conor plays with Campaign LK He also plays double bass with Treble & Bass, and The Bad Eggs.
