Innovative inspiration alert! Lorraine and Brendan planned their Co. Louth wedding all the way from Canada and they brought their very own bit of home to the arrival reception.
“We made a Cheese table from old tree stumps that were lying around the yard for firewood. We printed all the labels to match up with the cheese and I had both grandmothers make some old-fashioned brown bread to go with it.” explains Lorraine.
Luckily their eye for rustic detail wasn’t the only thing they brought home from Canada with them, they also enlisted the services of Toronto-based wedding photographer Calla Evans to document their big day, right down to the chopping of the wood.
The DIY-ing didn’t stop there -
“All the invitations/rrsvp/save the dates/ everything really was designed by a friend of mine Beth. I printed all myself and created address labels and everything else to go with it.”
“LOVED, LOVED, LOVED my dress! By Allure Couture, it had lots of ruffles and feathers, but fitted at the top, exactly what I wanted. Sad I’ll never wear it again! Was thinking of maybe a ‘trash the dress’ shoot, but don’t know if I could ‘trash’ it!”
Doesn’t it look delicious!
“We had our little nieces and nephews at the reception so to keep them entertained I made up some personalized boxes to go at their place setting. They had great fun with all the toys and it really did keep them occupied throughout the whole meal! We also made up some baskets for of toilietries and a baskets for flipflops. They were a big hit!”
“Cabra Castle had been just outstanding to deal with from our first deposit right through to the day after. It really is an exceptional venue where everyone was just talking about how amazing the meal was and the whole surroundings are really special.”
