In an era of social networking and text messages, when one has a message
it’s easy to spread. Perhaps a little too easy. We got engaged on the first day
of our four-day trip to Paris, and we texted our respective parents with the
news (although I use that word loosely as they all knew it was on the cards -
Rohan had asked my Dad’s permission, and he had told his Mam what he was
planning). They spread the word around our families, and we texted a few close
friends, intending to make it ‘Facebook official’ on our return home.
Which was grand until I got a text from a school friend saying ‘Did you get
engaged, it’s all over facebook.’ – A cousin had heard and congratulated me online
and that was all it took. So the word was out. And it was all good.
