When Dawn and Joshua tied the knot in sunny Florida last October, colour was the order of the day, with a side order of DIY:
Dawn always wanted to be a florist so being a bride-to-be gave her the ideal opportunity to showcase her creativity. She created the centerpieces with vases, gems, tree twigs from a craft site online, and dendrobium orchards she purchased from their florist.
“DIY projects not only save you money but add a personal touch to your special day.”
Dawn also created the place cards. She researched the size of normal place cards and cut the length double (to fold). She made two slits and fed ribbon through the top to make a bow. This was a great way to pull in the colors from the bridesmaid dresses and bouquets. They also matched the programs that she created with the same type of supplies.
Dawn’s Chief Bridesmaid made the day memorable in an unexpected way:
“One of the funniest memories from our wedding was that my Matron of Honor forgot my husbands wedding band. It was only when she was prompted to hand it over is when she squealed. It was priceless! The photographer was able to capture the moment and I know that I will be teasing one of my best friends about that for the rest of our lives.”
Dawn’s Advice for Brides-To-Be:
“This is one of the biggest days of your life. Relax and have confidence that the months of preparations are going to pay off. Know that your guests are not judging how you decorated or how smooth everything rolls – they are there to celebrate the love you and your significant have for each other. Sit back, grab a cocktail (or fruit punch) and enjoy being the center of attention. Take in every moment because it only happens once!”
