Bellezza Photo

Background Information: Part 2

{Part 2: Man made Backdrops }

Last week we had a look at how natural backgrounds can make your wedding photos epic. This week we’re taking it to the streets… and the railroads… and to some nicely painted murals.

Brian Friedman:

This photo of Nicola & Steve’s New York weddings has to be one of my favourite wedding photos of all time. The background of the big, busy city really frames their embrace instead of overpowering it. The guys are from Northern Ireland and hired NY Photographer Brian Friedman of B-Freed Photography to document their day. Irish brides thinking of NY nuptials should definitely check him out. The entire wedding featured on the amazing Rock n’ Roll Bride too.

Continuing on our theme of epic backgrounds, murals can bring amazing visual impact to your photos, as these two images from Bellezza Photography illustrate nicely. In urban areas in particular, keep an eye out for graffiti. Areas like Dublin’s Windmill Lane that encourage artists to make their mark on the walls are fantastic if you want a bit of a unique wedding photo backdrop.

Maybe it’s because I’m a Dublin-based bride but I’ve only discovered the work of Philip Daly Photography in the last week. And I was impressed! He has an eye for a nice, epic background – as you can see. First off, we have a retro mural.

It felt a little strange including these two photos in the man-made section – after all established features such as railroads and beautiful old buildings seem to compliment the natural landscape to the extent that they seem as natural as the flowers and the trees. There is no doubting what they bring to the photographs though.

This final one is urban and edgy. I love the bold red of the background and the fact that the couple should look out-of-place but they don’t. Look at the bride’s veil just floating on the breeze. Definitely a moment captured forever.

  1. Thanks for including our photo- also one of my favs from the day as Times Square is amazing at the best of times but when you’re there on your wedding day-wow! I can totally recommend both NYC and Brian! I love the railway photo and the red container one too-they’re both stunning!
